August Court Of Honor 2 Eagles
On Sunday, August 29th, Troop had a very special event. We recognized the highest accomplishment Scouts can obtain. Eagle Scout... and Wood Badge. Alexander Qualls and William Garrett both accepted their new lifetime rank of Eagle Scout and Jesse Carnes accepted his new Wood Badge accomplishment. The ceremony was held in the AEB on campus at Broadmoor United Methodist Church and a reception followed in the downstairs parlor/classroom. Steve Beatty, Norm Bacon, Ken Garrett gave the two Eagle Scouts nice historical memories of their individual experiences in our scouting program. Congratulations to William, Alexander and Jesse for their accomplishments! August Court Of Honor Wood Badge
Congratulations Jesse! You are blazing the trail for our young men and women! Troop 478 HAM Operation Command
TROOP 478 is working toward having our own base station and getting licensed to operate a HAM radio in emergency conditions. Our goal is to provide the Broadmoor subdvision and surrounding neighborhoods with an emergency source of communication in conjunction with our sponsor, Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Several of our Scouts are working on their "tickets" so that they will be able to operate the base station in the event of an emergency. Scouts interested in participating in this project should contact Mr. Couvillion or Mr. Swafford and study the requirements for communications, electronics and radio merit badges. We will also be scheduling classes for training by some of our local emergency services teams to assist us in learning the requirements for the technician FCC license.
